HOW TO WRITE A STORY?

Story Writing:-

We are all story tellers in one way or  other.Just think of the last time you gave an excuse to your teacher for not doing your homework or for getting late.The story you told your teacher could have been an instantly framed or a planned one.Anyway it worked.But here we are talking about  Story Writing which is an art. You can write a story if:

1.Your plot is good;

2. You give a befitting title to your story

2. You can use your imagination to develop the plot with interesting details;

3 You can create suspense so that the reader is motivated to read on;

4. Your expressions are good;

The art of writing interesting stories can be learnt only by constant practice.

Read your story after a day and look for the missing links with a fresh  mind. If satisfied with it, submit ,otherwise work on it further to make it interesting.

A story can be written in many ways:

1. From given guidelines: This is easy and interesting as you are given  the outlines of a plot and you just need to build up the story. You needn't invent the plot; you have simply to fill in the details in an attractive manner.

2. Story based on a moral: Here you have a moral like' As you sow, so shall you reap', 'A friend in need is a friend indeed' etc. and you are required to illustrate the moral with a story.

3. From incomplete hints: Here you have a couple of opening sentences. In a way ,a story is started for you and you need to continue it. Here imagination is certainly needed to continue the story.

Developing a story from outlines:

1. Read the outlines carefully and try to understand the gist of the story.

2. Avoid omitting any point given in the outlines and maintain the order of the points.

3. Connect every part in such a way that the story is  coherent piece of good composition.

4. Introduce conversation or dialogue where needed.

5. Suggest a suitable proverb, saying or idiom as the title of the story.

6 , Write the story in simple English and in past tense form.

Specimen story:

                                                         The Wolf  And The Crane

Once a wolf had a bone stuck in his throat. Being much in pain , he ran about. He then met a crane and said to him, " I am in great trouble. Please help me". The crane said," What can I do for you?". Then the wolf requested him to pull out the bone. The crane knew how dangerous it was to put his head inside the wolf''s mouth. So he refused to do so. But the wolf said," No need to fear. I promise you that I will not harm you at all. Instead a reward will be given to you. Please help me", The crane agreed . He pulled out the bone with his long neck by putting his head inside the wolf's mouth.After doing his work successfully, the crane asked the wolf for his reward. The wolf cunningly replied he had already been rewarded. Poor crane could not understand. He said," But when and how?. The wolf replied that it was that when his head was inside his mouth and he had not bitten off it. Having said so , the wolf went away whereas the dumbstruck crane stood there in a shocked state..
